Versace Just Released a Limited-Edition Version of Sunglasses Worn by Notorious B.I.G.

Notorious B.I.G, aka Biggie Smalls, is one of the most famous and influential figures in rap and the music industry, even more than 20 years after his death. Proof of Biggie’s enduring influence? Versace just released limited-edition sunglasses inspired by the rapper for its “The Clans Collection.”

Biggie often attended Versace fashion shows and even rapped about wearing the brand. In a 2011 interview with The Fader, Donatella Versace spoke fondly of him and credited him with promoting the brand. “So I loved what he was doing and how he was giving people a way to know about Versace—I do think he was giving people a way to know about Versace—I do think a lot of people started to know about Versace because of him,” she said.

The Biggie sunglasses from 1990, worn in the video for “Hypnotize,” were redesigned in a hexagonal shape from its original curved frames. The new design retains the signature golden Medusa medallion on each side and will be available exclusively at Barneys and barneys.com (currently sold out) for one month only.
